Why Should I Join PTO?

1. Your child benefits.

The PTO is an important part of the school and helps to enrich your child's school experience. Research shows that children perform better when parents are engaged in education both at home and at school.  Parental involvement boosts student achievement.

2. The school benefits.

The PTO provides support for teachers and administration and strives to create a positive and caring atmosphere in the school.

2. To make a difference.

As well as fundraising the PTO organizes events which add so much to our children's school experience. The PTO's goal is to create a real sense of community that benefits the children.

3. We have fun!

Being part of the PTO is a fun and rewarding experience and we host fantastic events where parents can get together and make new connections.

4. Make friends.

Many friendships develop from being part of the PTO.  Volunteering your time and working towards a common goal is a rewarding experience and many long-lasting friendships are formed while being a part of our PTO team.

5. Feel involved.

Every parent is welcome to our meetings and we love to see new members.  Please consider coming along to our PTO meetings or volunteer a few hours of your time at an event. It is a great way to get involved and feel part of the school family.  Meeting dates and times can be found on the calendar of events.

6. Give a helping hand

We realise that every parent is busy, so we welcome job-sharing roles in the PTO.  Many hands make light work so if more people come forward, we can share the work making it fun for everyone.

7. Keep our PTO going.

As parents move on from the school, there is a real danger that there will no longer be a PTO to carry on providing this valued resource.  Please do consider helping, and maybe teaming up with a group of parents to take over running the PTO.

8. Provide your unique value and expertise

Do you have a skill that you are exceptionally good at?  Do you own a company that could provide services or corporate sponsorships to enrich the children's educational experience?  Whether you may be good at photography, art, gardening, crafts, sales, etc.. we want to hear from you!  It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a village to run a successful PTO.  Please reach out to the PTO President if you would like to contribute your skillset. president.tispto@gmail.com.

10 Myths About Joining the PTO

#1. Only moms and teachers need to join the PTO

FALSE.  A strong PTO needs the support of parents, family members, teachers, school staff, and community members. Anyone who cares about children belong in the PTO.

FALSE. The PTO appreciates everyone's membership, whether or not a member volunteers. You will not be sucked in to a black hold of volunteering!

#3. The PTO is only for stay-at-home parents with nothing else to do.

FALSE. Many of your fellow PTO members are working parents who want to support the kids and the school. MOST members are juggling work, kids, homework, household chores, sports, and/or dance classes, just like you!
